Awraris obtained his Master’s in Pharmaceutical Analysis and Quality Assurance at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. During his project he established pharmacognostic, physicochemical, phytochemical, and residual standards for an Ethiopian valued herbal plant, Echinops Kebericho Mesfin. He also chemo-profiled the root of the plant to identify key quality biomarkers using LC-QTOF-MS, GC-MS and FT-IR methods. Awraris’ FAAB PhD project aims to develop and apply Raman scattering and spectroscopic methods to determine both the small molecule composition and macromolecular structures of food processing waste streams.
