Martina Moretto

FAAB PhD Student

I am excited to share that I recently joined FAAB and began my PhD in July 2024. My research focuses on developing innovative, zero-waste transdermal patches for pain relief using cannabidiol (CBD), in collaboration with our industry partner, EncapSolutions. This project explores encapsulating CBD in nanofibrous technology for slow and prolonged delivery, with a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability. My academic background includes a five-year master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology from the University of Trieste, Italy. I also completed a research thesis at University College London (UCL) where I developed a novel delivery system using an antibody amphiphile-conjugate with Trastuzumab and an amphipathic polymeric carrier derived from chitosan. Professionally, I have experience as a chemist/laboratory tecPhnician at Australian Laboratory Services (ALS) – Environmental in Sydney, as well as a compound chemist and pharmacist in Italy. Joining FAAB represents an exciting new chapter in my career, aligning perfectly with my passion for pharmaceutical development. I am enthusiastic about the innovative research opportunities here and am thrilled to be part of the FAAB community.
